20 tons of clothing!

Recently, we were fortunate enough to be able to purchase an entire warehouse worth of clothing.  The lot amounted to nearly 40,000 lbs (or 20 tons) of clothes!  You can see how packed the warehouse was:

The garments had been in a warehouse in Waltham since the 1990’s, as part of the collection of The Closet Upstairs.  We are so glad to give these beautiful garments a new home here at The Garment District.

While it may take us years to get sort through all of the clothing and put it out on the sales floor, we’ve started going through some of the garments – some are already out for sale!  Even though we’ve barely scratched the surface, we’ve found tons (literally!) of vintage, 60’s/70’s, and 80’s/90’s treasures.

The 60’s/70’s and vintage clothing goes all the way back to the turn of the century, including dresses, hats, shoes, purses, tuxedos, suits, pants, neckties…

The 80’s and 90’s clothing is a mix of rad tee shirts, dresses, jackets, sweaters, harem pants, glam designer-wear, and more!  Here’s a bit of the lot’s 80’s and 90’s clothing up in our supply department, to be priced and put out on the sales floor – it’s hard to tell by the photo, but those piles are at least six feet tall:

And here’s even more of the lot baled up in our warehouse – each bale is somewhere around 1,000 pounds:

We’re so excited about these clothes – we’ll be able to place them in almost every single department in the store (including By The Pound) for years to come!
