Today’s Throwback Thursday features our main store fitting rooms. This area sure has seen a lot of changes over the past 28 years!
Today’s Throwback Thursday image takes us back to 2003. This was what the “world famous pile of clothing” looked like – today we call it By The Pound, or sometimes affectionately refer to it as “Dap” or “the Dap.”
Some of you probably remember the pile looking like this: it was on the other side of the store, where Boston Costume’s wigs, masks, and costume accessories are now located. You can see a bit of the “stage” in this picture – that’s because we used to have bands come and play!
If you have any images from years past at The Garment District, By The Pound, or Boston Costume and would like to send them to us to include in future Throwback Thursday posts, please contact us!
We’ve decided to start posting some Throwback Thursday images! Today’s TBT is an ad for our semi-annual half-off sale from August, 1997. The ad ran on the front page of Cambridge’s Square the Deal newspaper. Other gems from that particular Square the Deal issue: ads for Tamagotchis and Beanie Babies, a Newbury Comics coupon listing the Government Center and M.I.T. locations, and an ad for Dianetics.
This 1980’s ad for The Garment District is one of the classics! Shot on the restyled T car on our second floor, and featuring Garment District employees, it symbolizes so much of what we love about our business. Whether you’re looking for some rockin’ duds or straight-laced office-wear, we carry it all!
